UFC 225 re-finalized with changes in the main and FS1 fight cards
UFC 225 will take place on Sat, June 9, 2018 at the United Center in Chicago. The main card will air on pay-per-view while the prelims will air on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
The fight card will feature two title fights, the first one will be in the middleweight division as champion Robert Whittaker (19-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC) will take on Yoel Romero (13-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC). Colby Covington (13-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) will go against Rafael dos Anjos (28-9 MMA, 17-7 UFC) for the interim welterweight belt.
Also on the main card we will see Holly Holm (11-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) take on Megan Anderson (8-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC). This fight was scheduled on the preliminary card, but during Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 129 event UFC officials confirmed we will see them on the PPV card. Due to this change, Alistair Overeem (43-16 MMA, 8-5 UFC) and Curtis Blaydes (10-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) fight has now been moved on the FS1 prelims.
Curtis Blaydes and Alistair Overeem didn’t get any explanation as to why their bout was moved but they don’t seem very upset about it.
Blaydes states on his Instagram:
“I’ve got no idea why the change was made and tbh idc it literally changes nothing, still getting paid and still have a job to do. Only perk is now I get to clock out of work closer to 8 as opposed to like 10ish”
