UFC 229 took place on Saturday October 6, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view while the televised prelims on FS1 and the early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Derrick Lewis, Aspen Ladd, Tony Ferguson and Anthony Pettis each earned an extra $50k bonuses. Ferguson and Pettis earned “Fight of the Night” while Ladd and Lewis each won “Performance of the Night.” UFC officials announced the winners following the event.

In the co-main event we saw one of the most exciting fights that night. Tony Ferguson (24-3 MMA, 14-1 UFC) defeated Anthony Pettis (21-7 MMA, 8-6 UFC) in a bloddy war during thebsecind round. The fight was stopped via TKO in Round 2 as the corner called off the fight due to a broken hand.
Fighters took home their Reebok Sponsorship Payout totaling $246,000. Coming in first place was Nurmagomedov taking home $40,000 and in second place was McGregor taking home $30,000. In third place was Anthony Pettis, Ovince Saint Preux and Nik Lentz taking home $20,000.
Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $3,500 per appearance; 4-10 bouts get $5,000; 11-15 bouts earn $10,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $15,000; and 21 bouts and more get $20,000. Additionally, champions earn $40,000 while title challengers get $30,000. Also, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.
