UFC Boston Anthony Pettis Vs Eddie Alvarez

Thursday October 01, 2015– A huge announcement was announced that a dream fight will take place next year in January. The #1 ranked Lightweight contender in the world and the former champion Anthony Showtime Pettis (18-3) will take on of the best lightweights in all of MMA the former Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion Eddie Alvarez (26-4). With UFC Boston already having a big main event in Dillashaw Vs Cruz for the Bantamweight Title, these to lightweights are fighting for a future shot at the title. Pettis who recently lost his title in his last fight against current champion Rafael Dos Anjos, is trying to mark in stone that he deserves his rematch for the title. Alvarez is coming off a big win in his last fight against Gilbert Melendez, has put himself in the top 5 and has put himself in line for a title shot. A win for either of these fighters will set themselves up for a big 2016.

Anthony Pettis a former UFC and WEC light heavyweight champion, was running the division before his lost to Dos Anjos by running off five straight wins. With wins over Benson Henderson, Gilbert Melendez, and Donald Cowboy Cerrone Pettis placed himself on another level. Pettis who made a name for himself with his famous “Showtime” knock out kick over Benson Henderson, has really distanced himself from other light weight contenders in the UFC with how versatile he is in the octagon. From his mean submission game to how deadly his kicks are, Pettis is one of a kind and may have met his perfect match against Alvarez.  Pettis was handled pretty well by Dos Anjos in the title fight back at UFC185, Pettis did manage to go the distance and lose by unanimous decision. Even though Pettis’s game was exposed he is still one of the deadliest fighters and Alvarez will have his hands full. If Pettis can get back to his style and look for the early and quick finish he should have no problem winning this fight and lining himself up for a rematch with Dos Anjos.

Eddie Alvarez is a MMA legend who is known all over the MMA world, a former Bellator champion who has had nothing but unforgettable battles against guys like Michael Chandler may have just been given the biggest fight of his career. In his last fight against Gilbert Melendez, Alvarez showed just how big his heart is by coming back and winning the fight by unanimous decision with a broken nose. With his nose being broken, it caused him to lose vision in one of his eyes. His fight with Melendez was a fight years in the making, with both fighters always fighting in other companies trash talking was as close as these two men got to action. But with both men singed in the UFC they went one on one at UFC188. With this fight against Pettis, Alvarez with a victory will be in line for a title shot no doubt about it but Pettis is no push over and Alvarez knows that. If Alvarez sticks to his game and works Pettis weakness Alvarez can find himself in line for a win. Training with the Blackzilians and head Coach Henri Hooft will fully prepare Alvarez for Pettis in every way possible.

This is going to be one of the biggest fights of 2016, 2 of the biggest names in all of MMA finally get a chance to meet. Everyone knows that Cerrone and Dos Anjos will battle in December for the title, but now that this fight has been announced the UFC is building up this stacked lightweight division in every way that it can.  This fight can end in the first round or go the distance, both fighters are veterans and will do whatever it takes to win this fight and get that next title shot. The TD Garden will be rocken when Showtime meets The Underground King.
