UFC Fight Night Belfort Vs Henderson Preview
Monday October 26, 2015– The UFC makes their return to Brazil, and after the last event In brazil were we saw the greatest women’s fighter of all time Ronda Rousey defended her title in 35 seconds UFC brazil fans are eager for another barn burner. Well ask and you shall receive, everyone loves a sequel and that’s what they will get as two UFC legends got toe to toe. Vitor Belfort Vs Dan Henderson have shared the octagon before and it wasn’t a pretty sight as Belfort had a dominating victory early in the first round back at a UFC Fight Night in 2013. Along with the rematch is another intriguing light heavyweight bout between #4 ranked contender Glover Teixeira takes on a fighter that is on a pretty nice hot streak in #9 ranked contender Patrick Cummins. The return of Clay Guida and Fabio Maldonado and many other great fights on this stacked card.
Taking a look at the co main event in the light heavyweight division, coming from a huge victory back at UFC Nashville Glover Teixeira (23-4) shot his way to the top of the contenders list by showing off his skills with the defeat of Ovince St. Preux. Fighting back in Brazil against a worthy opponent such as Cummins is really giving Glover a shot to get another crack at the title. With his last victory I think in my eyes and of others he proved that he still has it. If Teixeira does get the win it should line him up for a second fight that could have title implications involved. For Patrick Cummins (8-2) who is on a bit of a role as of late including a very impressive win over Rafael Cavalcante at UFC190. Four wins out of his last five fights has given this golden opportunity for Cummins to really climb up the ladder and possibly line himself up for a future fight with someone in the top 5. For either one of these two fighters to take advantage they need to work at their skills, for Teixeira he needs to do exactly what he did against OSP and work his submission game and look for the quick finish. Cummins does have a bit of a glass jaw if you look back at some of his past fights like OSP when he was defeated in dominant fashion. For Cummins to win this he need to do what he did in his last fight and that is fight all three rounds. Look for the finish but do not take Teixeira lightly, if Cummins works to is strengths and capitalizes at the opening that will be there the fight will be his to win.
The Main event is lined up to be another classic as #4 ranked middleweight Vitor Belfort (24-11) who in his last fight was finished by KO when he challenged for the Middleweight title. Even though he was defeated by the champion Chris Weidman, three out of his last four fights were all victories by KO. Not just a normal KO these were dominating fashion finishes. With one of those victories being over Dan Henderson I believe that the entire MMA world knows what Vitor is capable of. There are always reports that have come out about what Vitor has or hasn’t taken, either way he is one of the most deadliest fighters in the sport and has the ability to turn your lights out in the blink of an eye. For Dan Henderson (31-13) the #12 ranked middleweight in the world and also a legend in all of MMA is looking for his redemption on Belfort. Henderson has some crazy finishes as well but with a lot more defeats than victories to his record Henderson is looking to make it two in a row, after his last KO victory over Tim Boetsch. Henderson and Belfort are bot older but still two of the deadliest in the division and still have some gas left in the tank. Whoever wins this fight will try to make another run at possibly a title shot but with that division already packed with some top ranked fighters it will be tough. But these two men will do whatever it takes to get another shot at glory.
A stacked card no doubt, and by the end of the night well know how the light heavyweight contenders list will shape out. After the main event is over well see if redemption was completed, or will the past repeat itself.
