UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo Bader vs. Nogueira 2 Recap & Results
Saturday, November 19, 2016— Live from the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo Brazil The UFC put on its second card of the day and as in the first one the main event was a rematch. Two top light heavyweights went head to head as hometown hero and MMA legend Rogerio Nogueira took on Ryan Bader. In their first bout back in 2010 Bader got the best of Little Nog, the fight went the distance and Bader walked away with a unanimous decision. Now 6 years later and both fighters needing a convincing win to help propel them towards a title shot, a decision victory was highly unlikely. In the co main event top ranked bantamweight Thomas Almeida looked to show the world that his last lost was a fluke and that he is the real deal. Almeida’s opponent was the undefeated Albert Morales, and what better way to stop the hype train by finishing the young superstar in front of his hometown fans. Former title challenger and #1 ranked strawweight Claudia Gadelha looked to get back on track as she took on the surging Cortney Casey who has won two fights in a row. With another defense by the champion Jedrzejczyk, the division needs a new title contender and both ladies were well aware of that and it showed when they stepped into the octagon. Blackzilian rising star and TUF winner Kamaru Usman looks to keep rolling as he took on the dangerous Warlley Alves, two rising stars looking to crack the top 15 a finish in Sao Paulo just might get the job done. Main Event Light Heavyweight Division
#4 Ryan Bader (22-5) Vs #9 Antonio Nogueira (22-7)
A rematch six years in the making went down in the fight capital, and with so much on the line for these two MMA legends a win was a must if they want to make one more title run in the near future. Into the 1st we go Little nog was able to stick around and keep Bader at a distance but Bader being the younger and stronger fighter there wasn’t much Noguiera could do to stop him. Bader was able to land more strikes then Little nog did, and just straight overwhelmed him from the start. The fight goes into the 3rd were Bader takes the fight to the mat and after some ground and pound that is all she wrote. A big win for Bader in his final fight on his UFC contract, a valiant effort by little nog but it just wasn’t enough.
Winner: Ryan Bader (23-5) by TKO Round 3
Loser: Antonio Nogueira (22-8)
