UFC fighter Desmond Green involved in a vehicle accident leaving two dead

DAVIE, Fla. – Current UFC lightweight Desmond Green was involved in a car accident in Davie, Florida. Two people are left dead after a five-vehicle crash early Saturday August 18, 2018.

A spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, Alvaro Feola, sates that Desmond Green was driving a Dodge Durango north when he lost control of his SUV just before 6:15 a.m. near Sheridan Street. Green states that he lost control of the SUV and veered into the path of a tractor-trailer that causes the crash involving three additional vehicles, Feola said.

Feola stated that 67-year-old Emelina Morfa and 76-year-old Emma Suarez Hernandez were passengers in a Toyota Yaris and killed in the crash. The driver of the Yaris, 64-year-old Mily Vita-Vega, was seriously injured in the crash and is being treated at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. Both Green and the driver suffered minor injuries.

Feola also stated that the Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating why Green lost control of the SUV.

Green is scheduled to face Mairbek Taisumov at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Oliynyk, in Moscow this September. No word yet if Green is still on the card due to this incident.
