Likely slated to debut at the Saitama card later this year, MMA veteran Masanori Kanehara (23-11-5) is the latest addition to the UFC’s Bantamweight roster.

The journeyman has competed in several organizations, including Pancrase, K-1, Shooto, Sengoku, and ZST. He has recorded 17 stoppages in his 23 career victories, with notable wins over Chan Sung Jung and Joe Pearson. He has competed and held a title at Featherweight as well.

With an excellent takedown game, strong ground-and-pound and sneaky submissions, expect Masanori to try to finish his opponent on the mat. His stand-up game utilizes a kickboxing-style stance, and he likes to counter his opponents with hooks. While his striking has power, and he has 8 wins by knockout to his name, his stand-up may not be strong enough just yet for the top of the Bantamweight division.

Kanehara would be on a seven fight win streak (with six stoppages) entering the UFC, however he was disqualified from his last fight after throwing his opponent out of the ring.
Masanori Kanehara is part of the influx of japanese fighters signing with the UFC as it continues its expansion into Asia.

First Stop Fantasy will be featuring more news on recent signings, fight card matchups and results in the upcoming months.
