VICTORY BRINGS DOUBLE TITLE FIGHTS TO KANSAS FOR EPIC 50TH SHOW
HEAVYWEIGHT KING ABE WAGNER vs. DANIEL GALLEMORE SET FOR MAIN EVENT
CO-MAIN EVENT: 145-POUND CHAMP JARRED MERCADO vs. ALEXANDRE PIMENTEL
VFC 50: LIVE ON UFC FIGHT PASS® FROM THE KANSAS EXPOCENTRE
Omaha, Neb – Victory FC CEO Ryan Stoddard today announced he has lined up back-to-back title fights for his promotion’s historic 50th mixed martial arts event, with the clash of the heavyweights main event Abe Wagner vs. Daniel Gallemore. Also, Victory’s recently crowned featherweight champion Jarred Mercado will look for his first successful title defense vs. Alexandre Pimentel in the co-main event. VFC 50 is set for Saturday, May 21st inside the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kansas and around the world live on UFC FIGHT PASS®.
Tickets for VFC 50: WAGNER vs. GALLEMORE went on sale March 15 at 9:00 a.m. CT through Ticketmaster.com and at the Kansas Expocentre Box Office. Tickets start at $25.00 (does not include applicable service fees).
“Everyone in MMA knows this is a hard business and that if you’re not passionate, and not all-in, you won’t make it very long,” said Stoddard. “The fact that Victory is not only rounding its 50th event, but still packs venues with every show and has a deal with the UFC, leaves me in awe. Over the years, we’ve worked tirelessly to make Victory the best promotion in the Midwest and to give our incredible athletes a world stage. On Saturday, May 21, Victory is going to celebrate its 50th event MMA-style, with a packed house, knockouts, wow-moments, a heavyweight fireworks finale – and with our fans – our loyal, amazing fans who collectively have made Victory a success.”
At VFC 50, no one is better suited to headline an event in Topeka than “Big Kansas” Daniel Gillemore. This 6’5” Emporia-native and Bellator MMA star finishes fights by choice of KO or TKO. No doubt, “Big Kansas” will be the pride of the sold-out Expocentre when he squares off against Wagner to capture the VFC heavyweight strap. Wagner, a former The Ultimate Fighter Season 10 competitor, is ready to defend his VFC belt and disappoint Gillemore’s hometown crowd by giving a fast knockout to their local favorite.
VFC’s co-main event will be a fast and furious championship bout featuring reigning titleholder, Mercado, versus the submission-artist and Blackziian challenger, Alexandre Pimentel. Mercado was awarded the VFC featherweight belt in January after defeating Alonzo Martinez via second round submission (rear-naked choke) at VFC 47. Now, Pimentel looks to stuff Mercado’s championship run and take the 145-lb. title back home to his famed team in South Florida.
Additionally, Stoddard announced two more bouts set for VFC 50 and UFC FIGHT PASS including a middleweight match between Blackzilian and former Strikeforce fighter Danillo Villefort (14-5) vs. Kelvin Tiller (7-1). Also Cody Carillo (11-12) will take on former UFC fighter Yuri Villefort (8-5) in a VFC lightweight bout.
More bouts for VFC 50 will be announced soon. For more information about Victory Fighting Championship, please visit VictoryFighter.com, LIKE us on Facebook.com/VictoryFighter and Follow on Twitter and Instagram @VictoryFighting.
