Des Moines, IA – A new champion was crowned at Victory FC 48 when Jason Jackson of the Blackzilians TKOd his challenger, Victor Moreno, in the main event welterweight title fight Friday, February 19 inside the Bucs Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Jackson swiftly eliminated any doubt that he belongs at the top of the division when he knocked Moreno to the mat within the first two minutes of round one. In the evening’s middleweight co-main event, the still undefeated Jordan Young decisioned his way to victory with a win over Cameron Olson, increasing his record to 5-0 and making a strong case for a championship fight in Victory’s competitive 185-bracket.

“The crowd in Des Moines exceeded our expectations, and we were beyond pleased with the fights, the arena, and most definitely the live show on UFC FIGHT PASS,” said Stoddard. “With every fight, Victory continues to prove it is the best in the business in athlete development and professional MMA events in the Midwest. Next up is Victory FC 49 back at Baxter Arena in Omaha, and we’re already working on making it bigger and better than the last.”

As a result of Victory FC 47, Stoddard sent two athletes up to the UFC: Middlweights Elvis Mutapcic and Anthony Smith. Following their performances at VFC 48, Jackson and Young may be the very next mixed martial artists called into the Octagon.

“My goal is to be UFC’s best partner and to be the promotion known for showcasing the next generation of world class MMA athletes,” said Stoddard.  “2016 is already tracking as a banner year for Victory.”
