World Cagefighting Championships (Pennsylvania)

Friday August 19, 2016 This past Saturday August 13 World Cagefighting Championships brought WCC 17 to the Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. FightBookMMA’s correspondent Maggie McMaster attended the event. Below is our recap and official results of the event.

On one of the hottest nights of the summer, World Cagefighting Championships put on one of the coolest events I’ve seen all season!

Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pennsylvania was host to this mega event held outside under the stars in an open arena. The heat index was cause for concern to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission so they changed the bout order and decreased round time in an effort to increase fighter safety. The heat only fired up the fighters more and the air was thick with excitement. They came to fight. And fight they did! They put on an electrical show for the fans who were witness to many a shooting star that night!!

The main event featured Legacy FC, Bellator and WSOF veteran, Matt Lozano who is a rising star headed to the UFC after this win against Eddie Alvarez. The co-main event featured Sharif Jones and Travis Creamer in a heated grudge match which tied the fighters up as Jones got his revenge and forced a submission in the third round. In the WCC Featherweight Champion bout Ethan “Wolverine” Goss and Jordan Morales set off fireworks in the open arena in a spectacular exchange where we saw Jordan Morales the victor in the end.

Mike Serrano and Gospel Uche settled their score to crown Uche as the WCC’s amateur featherweight champ. In a flyweight superfight between Blain Shutt and Desmond Moore, we saw Moore come out the victor . Successfully defending his amateur lightweight title in what was his toughest fight to date, Shane Wilson defeated Jon Tuxford.
