With UFC 246 now firmly in the ‘books’, renowned agent, Abraham Kawa, has big plans for his event’s cage-side client, Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal.
The Miami based striker was in attendance on Saturday night in Las Vegas, where he watched as former two-weight world champion, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor return to the winner’s enclosure via a forty-second demolition of Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. The BMF champion’s agent, Kawa, has now called for an interim welterweight title matchup between Masvidal and McGregor – while current undisputed champion, Kamaru Usman recovers from a hand injury. The First Round Management head-honcho, along with his brother, Malki, manages American Top Team Staple, Masvidal – and plan to secure the surging 170-pound challenger a lucrative tie against Dublin’s, McGregor. Taking to his official Twitter account, Kawa spoke of the potential pairing.
“Looks like (Kamaru) Usman is out indefinitely with another injury. Conor (McGregor) is ready to go. Jorge (Masvidal) is ready to go. Interim title for 170 (pounds)?

This inquiry from Abraham Kawa – follows Jorge Masvidal’s opinion on a potential meeting with McGregor, with the #3 ranked contender explaining how the option of pursuing welterweight gold with always be available, whether Usman holds champion status or not – compared to a timely nature in which a pairing with McGregor must be made. On paper, it’s certainly the more lucrative option for Masvidal who appears is laying foundations for a nest egg, with just three years remaining in his career. The 35-year-old has exploded in popularity over the course of the previous year – aided to no end via knockout victories over Darren Till, a record-setting flying-knee over Ben Askren, and a BMF championship win over the ultra-favorite, Nate Diaz.
Former featherweight and lightweight champion, McGregor, welcomed the potential onslaught of opponents immediately after his knockout win over Donald Cerrone, in his post-fight interview with UFC colour-commentator, Joe Rogan. Taking to the mic, McGregor issued ‘come and get it’ pleas to everyone from lightweight contender, Paul Felder, who was on commentary duty, the previously mentioned Usman, and in a rather creative verbal barrage, targetted a bathrobe dressed Masvidal. “Look at that fool in his bleedin’ housecoat, the stupid thick.”
