Adriano Moraes vs. Demetrious Johnson II set to headline ONE 161 on August 26.

A ONE Championship flyweight title rematch between reigning division champion, Adriano Moraes, and the former Flyweight Grand Prix victor, Demetrious Johnson has been booked to headline ONE 161 on August 26. in the pair’s championship rematch. The event is slated to take place at the Singapore Indoor Arena – with the outing coming as ONE Championship’s first broadcast on Amazon Prime Video.

Successfully defending his flyweight crown opposite Johnson back in April of last year at ONE on TNT 1 – Moraes became the first to finish Johnson in professional mixed martial arts, handing the Kentucky standout a second round knee knockout loss.

For Johnson, in the time since, the former UFC flyweight champion headlined ONE X in March recently, defeating kickboxing star, Rodtang Jitmuangnon with a second round rear-naked choke win in the pair’s special mixed rules main event clash. Ariel Helwani was first to report Moraes’ title rematch against Johnson on his official Substack page. 

Also featuring on that ONE X card earlier this year, Brasilia native, who is currently enjoying his third reign as ONE Championship flyweight gold holder, submitted common-opponent, Yuya Wakamatsu with a third round guillotine.

Amongst his other notable victories under the banner of the Chatri Sityodtong-led organization, Moraes has defeated common-foe, Danny Kingad, as well as avenged a loss to Geje Eustaqiuo, and defeated contender, Kairat Akhmetov back in July 2017 with a unanimous decision victory.

Establishing a 3-1 promotional record since his trade from the UFC, Johnson, who clinched the Flyweight Grand Prix with a unanimous decision win of his own against Kingad, also submitted ther aforenoted, Wakamatsu, and defeated Tatsumitsu Wada with a judging success.
