It’s been reported that Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz will meet at a Triller Fight Club event on Sept. 11.
Per a report from MMA Fighting, Silva has agreed to take on Ortiz in a 195-pound boxing bout. This will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles. This will be a professional boxing bout and is scheduled for an eight-round bout using 10-ounce gloves. This fight is scheduled as part of the undercard which is headlined by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya vs. former UFC champion Vitor Belfort.
As we remember, Silva did make a successful return to boxing when he defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by split decision back on June 19th. This makes Silvas pro boxing record to 2-1. “The Spider” fought out his UFC contract back in October 2020 which he lost against Uriah Hall. Ortiz recently resigned from his role as Huntington Beach (Calif.) Mayor Pro Tem. In his last fight, he won by submitting Alberto El Patron in the main event of Combate Americas 51 back in December of 2019. Ortiz’s win was momentarily overturned to a no-decision by the Texas State Athletic Commission. It was later restored after Ortiz claimed that the disqualifying substance that appeared in his urine sample was prescribed by a physician. Stay tuned to FightBook MMA as we will have more information about this event.
