Clarksville, Tennessee: Johnathan Ivey’s Cage Fighting Championships 10 will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Appleton Harley-Davidson in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Andrew Stewart is making his debut into the sport of MMA at CFC 10 in Clarksville Tennessee on June 26th. Stewart is taking on Elijah Hill in the CFC Light Heavyweight Division. FBMMA: Andrew thank you for taking the time to talk with us. You’re just a few weeks away from making your debut into the sport of MMA. How has your training been going the last month or so in your preparation for this fight?

Andrew: Thank you for having me in for this interview. My training over the last month has been focused on developing my skill set in the stand up along with tuning up my jujitsu to take on an MMA environment. Outside of the technical side of the arts I have been going through tougher conditioning to get my body ready for whatever might come my way. I feel like having Toby Imada as my coach has put me on another level.

FBMMA: What type of athletic background do you have? Did you play football growing up or take traditional martial arts as a kid?

Andrew: I grew up playing football. I played quarterback and linebacker in high school and went on to play Linebacker in college. I had a great deal of success at the college level. Football taught me a lot about myself and my desire to be the best. That same drive and desire to be dominant has transitioned to my MMA training. I have always had a passion for the work ethic and discipline it takes to be successful. Those two qualities are the foundation of every successful thing I’ve accomplished.

FBMMA: On June 26th you’re stepping inside the cage to fight for one of the fastest-growing MMA organizations in the south. What led you to make the decision that MMA was a sport you wanted to be a part of?

Andrew: I began my journey into MMA the day I decided to tryout the new gym Gamebred. As I participated in jujitsu I quickly realized that being stronger and more athletic will only take you so far. I have since been obsessed with developing my skills. I began competing in jujitsu after a few months of training and had good success. I am currently 13-0 in jujitsu and I expect to continue competing in the future. I now view MMA as the ultimate challenge for me and I am excited to push my limits. Ultimately the desire to become the best version of my self has led me to this sport.

FBMMA: At CFC 10 you’re making your debut against Elijah Hill, who himself made his debut at CFC 9 losing a very close judge’s decision. Hill came up a little short that night but proved to have a toughness and a don’t quit attitude. What aspects of the fight game do you think you’ll have the advantage over him come the night of June 26th?

Andrew: There is no doubt that Elijah is tough. It takes a certain amount of guts to step into a cage and test your skills against another man for the world to see. I have nothing but respect for Elijah. I believe my advantage in this fight will be the caliber of coaching that I am receiving from Toby. I couldn’t be in better hands. Other advantages I believe I’ll have is my athletic ability and physical strength. I’ve spent my entire life developing my body to function and an elite level physically and mentally. I look forward to seeing how well this transitions to the cage.

FBMMA At one time or another we’ve all been a huge fan of the sport of MMA. Is there one fighter that you’ve always watched and admired and liked his skill set inside the cage and why?

Andrew: Absolutely, when I first got interested in the sport I really favored Matt Hughes. I like the physical dominance that he displayed in the octagon. I always believed that is the style I would have if I ever entered the sport. My current favorite fighter is Robert Whittaker. I like his athletic ability. He moves extremely well with his feet and has a wide variety of offense he can throw. I hope to one day be a strong explosive athlete like Matt and have the large skillset of Robert. I believe it’s possible for me to get to that level. It will take a lot of hard work and discipline.

FBMMA: Thanks for talking with us Andrew and best of luck to you in your debut June 26th! Is there anyone you would like to thank or give a shoutout to before we close out this interview?

Andrew: I appreciate you having me. I would like to thank Toby Imada and the entire Gamebred team for helping me train for this event. My Mom who is not particularly happy I’ve decided to do this. I want to give a shout-out to my Fiancé who has supported me throughout the training process. Also, all my friends who are coming out to support me. Thanks again for having me, I intend to put on a show and hope you all enjoy the fight!
