Bahrain & Ireland Meet For $100K At MMA Super Cup Finale BRAVE International Combat Week to Conclude Today

The 2022 BRAVE International Combat Week is set to conclude today, Saturday March 12. Being held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the event is organised by the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Association (BMMAF) in cooperation with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) and KHK SPORTS from 8-12 March at Khalifa Sports City hall. 

Final Day ProgrammeThe last day of the event will feature the final match-up of MMA Super Cup which will see Bahrain’s national team going head to head against Ireland; a match-up for third place will also be held between Mexico and Uzbekistan. It’s worth noting that the Kingdom’s men advanced to the final game after putting on a great performance to sink Tajikistan 5-3 in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Ireland squeezed past Mexico thanks to a narrow 5-4 win. 

Team Bahrain Eyes Gold
Team Bahrain eyes winning gold today at Khalifa Sports City hall when they take on Ireland in the final of the first-ever MMA Super Cup. The team is armed with the support of HH Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, whose presence represents a great motivator for the team.

Coach Elder Eldarov, Team Bahrain Head Coach and BRAVE CF Super Lightweight champion confirmed that the team has reached full readiness for the final fight, adding that the fighters are armed with the support, follow-up, and interest of HH Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the main supporter of the team, noting that His Highness’ support gives the team members an edge over their counterparts.

He explained that the Bahraini team’s qualification for the final is an indication of the high capabilities that the team possesses and the high levels that it showed in the previous rounds, indicating that the team is looking forward to achieving the title of the first edition of the MMA Super Cup.

Eldarov also noted that the final match will not be easy, especially since the opponent is the Irish team, which has good fighters who delivered remarkable performances throughout the tournament.

Al Gosaibi: BRAVE CF has strengthened the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Position
President of Bahrain Karate Federation Faris Ghazi Al Gosaibi has affirmed that the efforts being exerted by HH Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa have reinforced Bahrain’s position internationally and made it a leading destination to host major events. 

Al Gosaibi said: “I extend my sincere thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to HH Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for the distinguished and great efforts made by His Highness to support the Bahraini sports movement, through purposeful initiatives, which contributed to cementing Bahrain’s reputation on the international sports map.”

He continued, “The Kingdom’s hosting of these international events has a positive impact on supporting the spread of MMA on the continent and globally.  I believe that this event will have positive repercussions on the development of mixed martial arts in Bahrain, by pushing the Bahraini amateur youth to become professionals.”

He stated that housing leading sports events has key factors that would have a positive impact on the economic and tourism sectors as well as promote Bahrain, especially in the sport of MMA which has become a milestone in the past years.

BRAVE Combat Federation Strengthening International Ties The Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Tajikistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation, which aims to strengthen the partnership between the two federations in order to improve the work system and the level of national teams in this sport.

The memorandum was signed at Khalifa Sports City Hall on the sidelines of the activities of the BRAVE International Combat Week. President of the BMMAF  Mohammed Qambar signed the agreement on behalf of the Bahraini side, while the President of Tajikistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation put pen to paper on behalf of his country.

On this occasion, Qambar said: “The memorandum of cooperation with Tajikistan’s Federation stems out of the Federation’s keenness to strengthen cooperation and partnerships with international federations, in a way that contributes to strengthening relations and pushing them towards advancing the MMA sport.”
