Bellator 209: Patricio “Pitbull” Freire vs. “El Matador” Emmanuel Sanchez Preview

Tel Aviv, Israel- Bellator MMA will bring its 209^th installment and the second in Israel. The main event will feature two bright stars with Patricio “Pitbull” Freire (27-4) who will look to hold on to the Featherweight gold against “El Matador” Emmanuel Sanchez (17-3). The Roufusport MMA Academy has been calling for a shot at the gold since his defeat of Justin Lawerence at Bellator 145. We’ll have to wait to see if he has the chops to get it done. On the flipslide “Pitbull” will be looking to prove a point that all featherweight roads will lead through him. Winning three of his last four with the likes of Daniel Weichel, Daniel Strauss, and Henry Corrales with the lone lose coming against long time Benson Henderson.

Wrestling superstar “Mr. Wonderful Phil Davis 19-4 will return to the cage as well and will be a opposed by “Baby Fedor” Vedim Nemkov (9-2). With a win over former champion Liam McGeary. This is one opponent that Mr. Wonderful can’t over look. With that said Davis has beat the who’s who of Bellator including Linton Vassell, Liam McGeary, Muhammed Lawal, and Emanuel Newton. I for one don’t see this going to the judges regardless of style differences.

Maybe the fight of the night will pit the young Ryan Couture (8-5) against savy veteran and countrymen Haim Gozali (11-6) who will be looking to right a wrong losing to the young Couture via decision in NYC. Both have been on a bit of a roller coaster so look for fast action and a finish from either of these warriors. How much will having his fellow countrymen behind for Gozali we will find out once the cage door closes.

One of the most interesting match ups will lay with the women as UFC and Invicta vet Cindy Dandois is set to take on the yet to be unbeaten Olga Rubin and hometown favorite. In a battle of styles this is sure to make for a fun fight and highlight the level of talent that Bellator is bringing to the promotion.
