A 150-pound catchweight matchup between featherweight upstarts, Billy Quarantillo, and Spike ‘The Alpha Ginger’ Carlyle, is set to take place at a UFC Fight Night event on May 30th. – with the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada expected to host the card.
New York native, Quarantillo made his Octagon bow back in December of last year, taking a second-round triangle victory over Jacob Kilburn. San Diego based prospect, Carlyle has also featured in the promotion once, taking a first-round finish over Aalon Cruz in February. News of the matching was initially reported by MMA DNA reporter, Marcel Dorff.
Following an appearance on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series last July – the 31-year-old has found opponents hard to come by. After a win over Kamuela Kirk – Quarantillo was matched with former Cage Warriors lightweight best, Chris Fishgold. The Liverpudlian was forced to withdraw from the pairing, with Quarantillo meeting the aforementioned, Kilburn instead. A matchup with Canadian prospect, Gavin Tucker was shelved due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – after a UFC Fight Night Lincoln event was indefinitely postponed. Riding a six-fight win streak, Quarantillo has been unbeaten since 2016.
While Quarantillo has established a six-fight rise – opponent Carlyle will earn a sixth consecutive triumph with a victory of his own. As mentioned previously, the Treigning Lab trainee – debuted with a finish of Cruz, making good on his call to the organization, following a four-fight run on various regional circuits. The creative striker and grappler has dropped just one career loss – a split decision defeat to Serob Minasyan.
