BRAVE CF 49: Torres secures a spot in the BRAVE CF Flyweight Tournament semifinals with decision win over O’Driscoll

Blaine O’Driscoll might have been a late-notice replacement for the BRAVE CF 49 co-main event of the evening but that doesn’t mean that the SBG Ireland youngster gave up a spot on the BRAVE CF Flyweight Tournament without putting on a fight.

In the first minute of the fight, actually, it seemed that O’Driscoll had the upper hand. Moving constantly and keeping the long range, the Irish managed to connect the best shots. But it all changed when Jose Torres got a clean knockdown.

From that moment on, up to the end of the third round, O’Driscoll fought bravely and had his moments, but was always a step behind Torres, who controlled the actions while standing up and mixed with his NCAA Division 2 wrestling to secure the win.

After three rounds, Torres was declared the winner by unanimous decision, moving forward to the semifinals of the prestigious BRAVE CF Flyweight World Title Tournament.

“Blaine was an amazing opponent. I thought he was going to give up but he refused, the guy was a staple of the Irishman. I’m excited to face the winner of Ali Bagautinov vs Dustin Oritz, because those were two guys that I was watching even before I started in MMA, it’ll be awesome to fight one of them”, Torres said.
