WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) stopped previously unbeaten WBO champ Billy Joe Saunders (30-1, 14 KOs) by an eighth-round stoppage.

Canelo became a three-belt champ after he hurt Saunders with a powerful left uppercut in the 8th round that closed his left eye. At the end of the round, Saunders shook his head and let his trainer know that he didn’t wish to continue fighting.

  • WBO light flyweight champion Elwin Soto (19-1, 13 KOs) defeated former IBF/WBA/WBO minimumweight champion Katsunari Takayama (32-9, 12 KOs) by a ninth round technical knockout.
  • Souleymane Cissokho (13-0, 8 KOs) defeats WBA Inter-continental junior middleweight champion Kieron Conway (16-2-1, 3 KOs) by a 10 round split decision. The scores were 96-93, 95-94 for Cissokho, and 97-92 for Conway.
  • Heavyweight contender Frank Sanchez (18-0, 13 KOs) defeated journeyman Nagy Aguilera (21-11, 14 KOs) by a six round unanimous decision.
  • Super featherweight prospect Marc Castro (3-0, 3 KOs) kept his perfect knockout record with a fourth-round stoppage of Irving Macias Castillo (9-2). Referee Rosario Solis stopped the fight at 2:04 of the fourth round.
  • Welterweight Christian Alan Gomez Duran (20-2-1, 18 KOs) defeated Xavier Wilson (11-3-1, 1 KOs) by a second round knockout. The fight was stopped at 2:19 by referee Rosario Solis.
  • Light welterweight Keyshawn Davis (3-0, 2 KOs) won by a six round unanimous decision over journeyman Jose Antonio Meza (7-5, 2 KOs).  The scores were 60-54, 60-54, 60-54.
  • Welterweight Kevin Davis (2-0, 1 KOs) defeats Jan Marsalek (8-3, 7 KOs) by a four-round unanimous decision. The scores were 38-37, 38-37, 38-37.
