ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) is kicking off the promotion’s 2021 run with a lineup of four championship bouts spread across back-to-back nights at Philadelphia’s historic 2300 Arena and broadcast live on UFC FIGHT PASS.
CFFC 92 takes place Thursday, March 11, and features CFFC flyweight champion Alberto Trujillo (5-1) seeking the first defense of his belt when he takes on fast-rising Ray Longo protégé Phumi “Turbo” Nkuta (2-0). The co-main event sees Uzbekistan’s Saidyokub Kakharamonov (7-2) facing Charlie’s Combat Club product Tycen “Shin to Chin” Lynn (8-4) for the vacant CFFC bantamweight title.
Meanwhile, CFFC 93 is scheduled for Friday, March 12, and sees CFFC middleweight champion and Dana White’s Contender Series winner Collin Huckbody (9-2) put his title on the line for the first time when he faces top Canadian contender Aaron Jeffery (9-2). The vacant CFFC heavyweight title is up for grabs in the co-feature, when Jamelle “The Beast” Jones (10-6) takes on Cody “The Moose” Goodale (7-4).
Limited VIP table tickets are available now at CFFC.tv, with social distancing implemented along with additional COVID-19 safety protocols.
“Despite all the challenges that 2020 presented to us, it remained one of the best years in Cage Fury Fighting Championships history, and we’re committed to reaching even new heights in 2021,” CFFC President Rob Haydak said. “We’re starting it out with two of our newest champions looking to defend their belts and continue their rise to the sport’s biggest promotions, while a pair of vacant belts will also be on the line as we look to find the best up-and-coming talent in MMA. With strong lineups already being planned for events in April and May, as well, fans can expect CFFC to continue providing action-packed events every time out.”
CFFC 92 and CFFC 93 stream live on UFC FIGHT PASS, with former WWE champion and two-time UFC veteran CM Punk calling the fights alongside MMA Junkie lead staff reporter John Morgan.
Trujillo claimed his flyweight title with a thrilling upset over a previously undefeated Santo Curatolo at October’s CFFC 87 and now meets another undefeated prospect in Nkuta at CFFC 92. Meanwhile, Kakharamonov and Lynn battle for the belt Jared Scoggins vacated when he recently signed a deal with Bellator MMA.
Huckbody claimed his middleweight belt with a brutal knockout of a gritty Aaron Phillips in December and now makes a quick turnaround at CFFC 93 to face Jeffery, whose only career losses have come to current UFC contenders Brendan Allen and Sean Brady. Additionally, Jones and Goodale’s shot at CFFC gold was made possible when former champ Shawn Teed vacated the title after securing a Bellator MMA deal.
