Liverpool lightweight has the opportunity to win the Cage Warriors 155lb title outright with victory over Norwegian challenger on October 28. Cage Warriors lightweight champion Chris Fishgold returns to action in his home town as he puts his 155lb world title on the line against hard-hitting Norwegian Alexander Jacobsen at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on October 28.
Liverpool’s Fishgold is unbeaten in his last seven outings, including four straight wins under the Cage Warriors banner. Since capturing the vacant Cage Warriors title with a submission win over Adam Boussif at Cage Warriors 77 last summer, Fishgold successfully defended the belt with victories over Jason Ponet and Nic Herron-Webb.
Standing in his way is in-form Jacobsen, who hasn’t tasted defeat since losing his professional debut. The Norwegian, whose fighting moniker is ‘Bad Romance’, has won eight straight contests, finishing seven of them inside the distance. His bout with Fishgold will be his third for Cage Warriors after stopping Tim Wilde by TKO at Cage Warriors 80 then outpointing Tom Green at Cage Warriors 84.
Joining Fishgold and Jacobsen on the card will be former featherweight champion Paddy Pimblett, middleweight contender Lee Chadwick and flyweight fan favourite Molly McCann, who will join Fishgold to fight in their home town. Also scheduled for action is lightweight contender Martin ‘.50Cal’ Stapleton.
Speaking about the upcoming title fight, Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan said: “This is a big night for Chris Fishgold. Not only does he get the chance to win the Cage Warriors lightweight title outright, he gets to do it in front of his home town fans.
“But Alexander Jacobsen fully deserves his shot at the belt and has looked superb in his two fights with us so far. You can bet he’ll be looking to spoil the party.
“We’re working on the rest of the card at the moment, and are excited to bring another spectacular event to The Echo Arena on October 28.”
