Former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor has given his reaction to the upcoming June 6th.  boxing exhibition match between the decorated, Floyd Mayweather, and YouTuber, Logan Paul — describing the showdown as “sad” — no matter what way they try to “spin” it.

McGregor, who is scheduled to headline UFC 264 on July 10th. against former interim lightweight best, Dustin Poirier in a lightweight trilogy rubber match, competed in a professional boxing match against Mayweather in August of 2017, suffering a tenth round knockout defeat.

The outing came as the Dubliner’s first-ever professional boxing match, and his sole outing to date, however, he’s been consistently linked to another trip to the squared circle, against another sport icon, Manny Pacquiao over the last couple of years.

Giving his thoughts on an upcoming summer exhibition pairing of Mayweather and the elder Paul brother, McGregor criticized Mayweather for allowing Jake Paul, Logan’s younger brother to steal his hat at a press event yesterday, and described the upcoming matchup as “sad“.

Hey, @leondardellerbe (Mayweather’s manager), what the f*ck is Floyd (Mayweather) at?” McGregor posted on Instagram. “The kid (Jake Paul) curled up, didn’t fight back once, and Floyd is still running around acting the tough guy. The kid (Logan Pual) actually just pulled this shambles of a situation Floyd is in out of the drain for him. He should thank him. It’s embarrassing! Pro to pro its embarrassing. He will not scratch 10m (million) for this fight and he knows it. It was cancelled once already. The world is watching this on Twitter. He’d fight a half-decent pro and command 20m upwards, yet it’s this sh*t. Whatever way you spin this, it’s sad. Fight someone for real, on your record, or f*ck off mate. Slap head!

Involved in an altercation afterward with Paul, footage emerged of Mayweather and his handlers attempting to pry the hat from the 3-0 professional boxer, who appears to have been left with a black eye and a chipped tooth as a result.

The June showdown against Paul will come as Mayweather’s second exhibition fight since his retirement following his knockout win over McGregor back in 2017.

On New Year’s Eve in 2018, Mayweather travelled to the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan — where he scored a first round knockout win over kickboxing talent, Rizin FF feature, Tenshin Nasukawa.
