Francis Ngannou Returns Against Jairzinho Rozenstruik At UFC Columbus In March
Joe Camporeale – USA TODAY Sports
A heavyweight showdown is expected to serve as the headliner of UFC Fight Night Columbus, on March 28th. as perennial contender Francis ‘The Predator’ Ngannou looks to earn a second heavyweight title challenge, as he draws the surging knockout artist, Jairzinho ‘Bigi Boi’ Rozenstruik. News of the matchup was initially reported by ESPN staff writer, Brett Okamoto.
Cameroonian knockout artist Ngannou, has rebounded from two straight losses in frightening fashion, scoring a second knockout win over Curtis Blaydes before two first round finishes of former champions, Cain Velasquez, and Junior dos Santos. Last weekend in the main event of UFC Fight Night Washington, Suriname finisher Jairzinho Rozenstruik left it late to maintain his undefeated record, as he moved to 10-0 via a final round knockout of Alistair Overeem, with only four seconds remaining on the clock, of a bout he was losing on all three judge’s scorecards.
Ngannou has been campaigning for a championship rematch with Stipe Miocic after establishing an impressive three fight win streak, but must first get through Rozenstruik in what is largely believed as a heavyweight title eliminator before the aforementioned Miocic rounds off his trilogy with Daniel Cormier next summer.
