George Hardwick receives a new opponent for CW 134

George Hardwick will now take on Łukasz Kopera at CW 134 on 18th March in a 161 lbs catchweight contest, after Danilo Belluardo had to withdraw from the originally scheduled lightweight title bout.

Kopera enters Cage Warriors with a 10-6 record, and his bout with Hardwick will be the first in a newly signed multi-fight deal.

Middlesbrough Fight Academy member Hardwick made quite the impression upon returning to Cage Warriors in 2021, putting former featherweight champion, Dean Trueman, away at CW 124 with a body shot TKO before submitting Jakub Dohnal at CW 129.

On the update to CW 134, Cage Warriors president, Graham Boylan, said: “It’s such a shame that George has missed a title fight for the second time due to circumstances out of his control.

“George is a true professional however and still has a tough test in front of him in the form of Kopera.

“We know Kopera is more than capable of finishing fights and is very durable, so this will be a fun fight for the fans.”

Kopera has three knockouts to his name and four submission wins as well on the European circuit.

Talking about signing for Cage Warriors, Kopera revealed: “I am very excited to compete on Cage Warriors because it’s a high-level European promotion that is well-known worldwide.

“My first fight is as a last minute opponent for Hardwick who is very strong.

“Hardwick is very strong but I believe my tools are enough to win.

“I am here to take the belt one day!”

Hardwick meanwhile has finished 50% of his wins with three submissions and one knockout.

When asked about his new opponent for CW 134, Hardwick replied: “It seems no title ready challengers have been able to step up but there is no way I’m sitting on the sidelines on 18th March.

“I will put on a show against Łukasz Kopera.

“He’s tough but too tough for his own good and it will get him into some serious trouble!”

CW 134 is headlined by Jordan Vucenic vs Paul Hughes II on 18th March at the Indigo at the O2 in London.

Cage Warriors fans can watch live on UFC Fight Pass and on Cage Warriors’ global broadcast partners.
