Today the UFC announced an exciting 5 round Welterweight clash between the undefeated Gunnar Nelson and Rick Story, and is now officially set to headline aUFC Fight Night in Stockholm, Sweden at the Globe Arena on October 4th.
The #12 ranked Gunnar Nelson is coming straight off an impressive win over Zak Cummings in July, where he submitted Cummings in the second round with a rear naked choke. The 26 year old has gone 4-0 since his debut into the UFC In September of 2012 and is now 13-0-1 in his MMA professional career. Gunnar has quickly become one of the most talked about fighters and is the one to watch with a grappling pedigree and Black belt in BJJ.
“I am honored to fight in Sweden and to headline this card,” Iceland’s Nelson said. “I expect the Swedish crowd to be pretty loud. I believe I have a big fan base in Sweden. They love my kind of style of fighting and I am of course Scandinavian so we have a good connection. So overall I think it’s going to be a great night – I am really excited about this opportunity.”
“I have fought in Germany before but it will be my first time in Stockholm, so I am looking forward to seeing the city,” Story said. “My schedule now will be to pack up and head down to Arizona to the MMA Lab to start training. I’m really excited for this fight.”
The 29 year old UFC veteran Rick Story (17-8)is often to know for his raw power and impeccable wrestling skills. Story is coming off one of the biggest wins of his UFC career submitting Leonardo Texeria at UFC Fight Night- Cerrone vs. Miller. The #15 ranked Story has had notable wins over Johny Hendricks, Thiago Alves, Brian Ebersole and Damian Maia.
