Iuri Lapicus dead at 27 after a three-day coma following a motorcycle crash

Former ONE Championship title challenger Iuri Lapicus (14-2) passed away at the young age of 27 on Monday, March 20, 2023, after a motorcycle crash he had in Italy last week.

According to Milano Today, Lapicus was in a coma until Monday. According to the report, Lapicus crashed his motorcycle into a car last week which took place on the corner via Lainate, in Pogliano Milanese, in the northwest hinterland of Milan. The vehicle he crashed into was driven by a 69-year-old woman and was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in the city, and he remained in a coma until Monday.

ONE published a statement: “The ONE Championship team is heartbroken over the tragic passing of Iuri Lapicus. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones at this difficult time.”

Lapicus made his ONE debut in 2019 when he faced Shannon Wiratchai and won via Rear Naked Choke in Round 3 at ONE Championship: Enter the Dragon. Before his pro-MMA debut was undefeated since 2014 until he faced Christian Lee at ONE Championship: Inside the Matrix.
