Jack Eglin recently improved to 2-0 with a first-round submission victory for Cage Warriors. The fast-rising British prospect sat down with FightBook MMA.
How does it feel to be 2-0? Yeah, it feels really good, but it’s just a stepping stone. I’m ready to make it 3-0.
Did you do anything to celebrate your victory? Nah, just chilled out with my girlfriend and ate some food.
How has the pandemic affected your career? It didn’t affect me too badly as I’m young, but it did put my professional life on hold while we were in and out of lockdowns, and it did test me mentally. I just made sure I used the time to get better and keep improving my game.
How excited are you to make up for lost time? Very! I’m ready to start making some big waves in the scene and show everyone that I’m not here to play games and make friends. I’m here to do a job and make sure it gets done and keep making the right moves to one day become a world champion.
Do you have a favorite British fighter? No, I don’t to be honest. There are some fighters who I think are the top guys and I admire what they’ve accomplished and done for the sport in the country, but I don’t have a specific guy I’d say that I like the most.
How important is it to represent England? It means the world to me to represent my country. It fills me with pride to be able to have the chance to do it!
Where would you like to be five years from today? In five years time, I’ll be in the UFC, either working my way through the top guys to get to the title, or I’ll already be holding it.
