Former undisputed UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo has called for a potential bantamweight title-eliminator opposite former two-time division gold holder, T.J. Dillashaw — preferably by December, off the back of his UFC 265 unanimous decision win over compatriot, Pedro Munhoz on Saturday.

Lodging his second straight win, former 145lbs champion, Aldo likely retained his spot within the promotion’s official bantamweight top-five rankings with his unanimous decision victory over American Top Team aggressor, Munhoz — adding his fellow Brazilian to a December bantamweight victory over Team Oyama finisher, Marlon Vera.

Certainly turning in an exciting performance in which he comfortably outlanded the forward-moving, Munhoz in terms of singificant strikes, Manaus native, Aldo has noted his interest in a matchup against former bantamweight kingpin, Dillashaw next — as soon as December.

It would be great for me to fight with (T.J.) Dillashaw,” Aldo said during his post-fight press conference. “Hopefully by Decemebr, I think it would be a great fight. That’s what we expect. That’s what I’m expecting right now.

Whilst Aldo is expecting a showdown with the Angels Camp native next, a December date for any possible pairing is likely to prove probably too soon for such a bout.

Returning triumphantly last month at UFC Vegas 32 against Elevation Fight Team staple, Cory Sandhagen — former bantamweight best, Dillashaw narrowly edged out the dynamic striker with a close split judging victory.

And while Dillashaw is expected to possibly sit out and await the victor of the upcoming October bantamweight title rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan — the Bang Muay Thai trainee explaining that he would be willing to remain active in the meantime.

However, a recent surgical procedure on his left leg following an opening round bucket handle lateral meniscus tear and a LCL rupture suffered against Sandhagen, is expected to sideline Dillashaw even further, potentially putting the kibosh on an intriguing pairing against Aldo — at least as soon as December anyway.
