Keiron Harding: “When I see the opportunity to knock him out, I will be taking it”

To know how good the Welsh boxer truly is, let’s quickly recap his accomplishments. He’s a ten time Welsh Champion, two time British Champion, and has won bronze at the junior and senior Commonwealth Games.

Harding is a sleeper signing that will pay huge dividends as he transitions from boxing proper to bare knuckle boxing.

Keiron Hardy takes on Jonny Lawson at BYB 36: Cardiff Brawl 2.

Getting to know Keiron Harding

Keiron Harding is making a move to bare knuckle boxing after over a decade out from boxing. Joining BYB Extreme, Harding speaks of nothing but good experiences with his new promotion so far.

“My experience with BYB, so far, has been good I haven’t been involved for long but so far, so good.”

The Wales’ native is a very hard working family man. Outside of fighting, he is always with his family and this is what motivates him.

“What motivates me is my kids and wife and making them proud of me by winning. Losing isn’t an option. Every training session, every sparring session, is 100% so that on the night my arm gets raised.”

Outside of fighting, Keiron Harding is also a footballer (soccer for you American readers).

“My hobbies outside of fighting are general: training, keeping fit. I’m a football coach and play football. I also spend a lot of time with my kids and wife.”

Making the switch

As mentioned previously, Keiron Harding is making the jump to bare knuckle boxing after a decade of retirement. Being drawn out in this way indicates that the excitement of the sport was simply too tantalizing.

“The reason I moved to bare knuckle is because it excites me watching it. I think I can get to the very top in the sport. I haven’t boxed since 2013 so I wasn’t sure if I could do what I used to do, if I still had it. But after 7 weeks of camp so far, all the sparring and training, I’m better than I was in 2013. I’ve matured, I’m stronger, fitter, and faster. I can’t wait to show the fans what I can do. I lost out on going to the Olympics and making it in boxing. I’m not making that mistake again.”

Harding is fighting Johnny Lawson on February 1st at BYB 36: Cardiff Brawl 2. After his time off, Keiron Harding knows not to underestimate anyone.

“I don’t underestimate any fighter that enters the ring. He looks tough and fit and has done a lot of bare knuckle rounds and goes the distance a lot. I’m expecting him to be up for it but he hasn’t fought any one like me yet.”

Keiron Harding, however, knows his skill level. He knows what he is capable of and on February 1st, he will show not just his opponent, but the entire BYB Extreme world what he is all about.

“The fans should expect on February 1st a showcase of boxing skills, for me to control the fight, and when I see the opportunity to knock him out, I will be taking it. This fight will not be going the distance. I’m putting my stamp on the sport come February 1st.”
