Major League Wrestling Kings of Colosseum: Hammerstone vs. Holliday

The wait is finally over, and tonight at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia the MLW fans get to see champion Alex Hammerstone take on Richard Holliday. The tension between these two has been mounting for months, and now at Kings of Colosseum it all comes to a head. We also had in action tonight a Featherweight bout between Brittany Blake and Zoey Skye, and an absolute barn burner match between Matt Cross and ACH. The crowd in Philly was treated to an excellent event and it pains me to give him credit, but El Jefe Cesar Duran outdid himself with the matchups tonight.

Brittany Blake vs Zoey Sky

This match began like it was shot out of a cannon, as Zoey Skye was entering the ring. Rather than facing off against her opponent, Skye climbed to the top of the turnbuckle and started the match off with a missile drop kick that would even impress RVD. It appeared like Skye being under sized wasn’t going to be an issue until her opponent gained the upper hand. All it took was for Skye to become a little over zealous in her attacks, and she ended up being put into Blake’s finishing move The Bad Omen and she was forced to tap out. The match was short, but action packed and was a great way to start off the evening for the crowd.

Winner: Brittany Blake

Matt Cross vs ACH

This match on paper was set to be a candidate for match of the year, and it absolutely delivered. Matt Cross and ACH are two technical masters in the ring, and the two were tailor made to face each other. With incredible high spots and technical holds, neither of the two men were getting the upper hand on each other. Counter move after counter move, both athletes put on a tremendous performance and all it was going to take was a small mistake to gain the upper hand. Both of these athletes were exciting the crowd with their charismatic performance, but ACH made one simple mistake and letting his guard down as he threw Matt Cross into the ropes and ended up getting hit with a flying cutter. With ACH incapacitated, Cross hit his signature shooting star press and was able to secure the victory. Even though Matt Cross got the victory here tonight, ACH just rose his stock up in MLW, and we can’t wait to see him in action again.

Winner: Matt Cross

MLW Heavyweight Championship Match: Alex Hammerstone vs Richard Holliday

The wait is finally over, and you can cut the tension with a knife inside the 2300 Arena. Richard Holliday came down to the ring completely focused with his valet Alicia Atout. He came out to the ring wearing the blood-soaked suit jacket from when he busted open Alex Hammerstone a few months back, Holliday has been trying to get into the head of the champion, but Hammerstone seems unphased. The champion came out to the ring oozing with extreme confidence and anger. This is a different Hammerstone then we are used to seeing, and there is a little bit of concern on the face of Holliday once they got face to face. The match started out fast and furious, Richard Holliday was trying to concentrate on hurting the ankles of Hammerstone, trying to take advantage of the past injuries the champion has had with his ankles. Hammerstone’s never ending will, just won’t let him stay down as he just continues to power through the attacks of Holliday. In true heel fashion, Alicia jumps on the apron to distract the referee, and her shoe is once again used as a weapon. It was looking like Holliday was able to sneak a victory away until Hammerstone was able to kick out of the count, Hammerstone lifts up Holliday but accidentally takes out the referee in the process. Hammerstone had Holliday pinned but there was no referee in the ring. El Jefe came out of the back with a referee of his own, an Azteca henchmen came down to the ring, but it seemed like the fix was in. Holliday brought in a chair from the outside, and the new referee turned his back, pretending to fix his mask. Holliday begins beating Hammerstone down with the chair and was about to hit the final fatal blow. Just as it was looking like Holliday was going to cheat to win, the original referee comes to and enters the ring. First, he threw out the Azteca Henchman, and just as Holliday was going to hit Hammerstone with one last chair shot, the champion grabs hold of the chair, Holliday had a look on his face like he had seen a ghost. Hammerstone tosses the chair out of the ring and grabs a hold of Holliday and hits him with the famous Nightmare finisher and secures the victory. Something tells me that this won’t be the end of this feud, but for now Atout will be licking Holliday’s wounds until they can come up with another plan to take out the champion.

Winner: Alex Hammerstone
