Mokaev vs. Burns: A Heated Social Media Rivalry Before BRAVE CF 91

Muhammad Mokaev is fighting South Africa’s Luthando Biko on December 13 at BRAVE CF 91 but, less than one week before his promotional return fight, the Flyweight superstar got into a heated social media war against another division rival: Ireland’s Gerard Burn.

In the lead-up to Mokaev’s next fight the video of Gerard Burns’ midfight callout to “The Punisher” back in October resurfaced, sparking controversy in social media. Upon seeing the scene, Moakev reacted saying “that’s why he declined (to fight me) on December 13”, which immediately led to a reply from the Irishman.

“Glen McVeigh (last-minute replacement who fought Mokaev in their pro debut) is the last person I would ask for advice. He went 3 rounds with you and he was eating McDonald’s 3 times a day and with zero training. It says it all (laughs). See you soon!”, Burns wrote.

Mokaev then suggested an arrangement to keep the beef going, even though both men aren’t able to fight each other immediately. “No more talk. If you want to fight, here’s my brother Mohammed Idrisov ready to fight you in January”, he wrote. “I think this is more than enough time for you to prepare. (BRAVE CF President) Mohammed Shahid, make it happen and I will be at the event!”. To which Idrisov himself replied affirmatively.

BRAVE CF 91 takes place on December 13 at Khalifa Sports City, in Bahrain. The event will be headlined by the Bantamweight title fight between the champion Nkosi Ndebele and the challenger Nicholas Hwende. In the co-main event of the evening, “The Pride of Bahrain” Hamza Kooheji takes on Turkey’s Alperen Karabulut.
