BEST QUOTES
Chatri Sityodtong – ONE Championship Chairman and CEO: “We have not only an incredibly stacked card, we have three world title fights, and every single fight on this card is gonna be electric. It’s going to light up, not just the stadium at Impact Arena – which was sold out weeks ago – but it’s going to light up the world.”
“In the main event, we have Superbon versus Tawanchai II. Obviously, Superbon is the reigning featherweight king of kickboxing, one of the greatest fighters ever to come out of Thailand, facing Tawanchai, also one of the greatest world championship fighters to ever come out of the country. Truly, these are two of the greatest pound-for-pound strikers on the planet.”
“This has so much at stake, not just for the country of Thailand, [but] all over the world. Genuinely, these two are the greatest strikers on the planet right now. And whoever wins on Friday will be crowned the king of the kings.”
Tawanchai PK Saenchai – ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion: “This is my new dream, to have a kickboxing belt under my name as well. Superbon has competed in my rule set in Muay Thai, [after I beat him again] I want a chance to compete in kickboxing to get his belt as well.”
Superbon – ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion: “In the first fight, what I learned the most is that Tawanchai is someone who can kick really fast and can do teeps or push kicks very precisely. So I went back and did my homework, and I believe that if I can face these two moves from Tawanchai, then I can beat him this Friday.”
Fabricio Andrade – ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion: “I think after he lost that [first] fight, he went back and he made a lot of improvements, and he showed that in his last three fights. He was able to finish all his last three opponents. So he showed that he’s improving, and especially on his grappling. He was able to finish his fight with the ground and pound. So he definitely showed a lot of improvements. But I think I am still better than him.”
Kwon Won Il – #3-Ranked Bantamweight MMA Contender: “Last fight, my mentality was not good, and then his striking was good. So I put in so much hard work and then [improved my] grappling and striking. Yeah, so now it’s better than the last fight, and then I think the same, I am better than him.”
Nico Carrillo – #2-Ranked Bantamweight Muay Thai Contender: “When Superlek pulled out, obviously it was a bit of a blow. But thanks to ONE Championship for quickly salvaging the situation, and as soon as I found out that it was for the interim belt, honestly it was just business as usual for me. Beating Nabil is quite difficult in such a short time, to train for someone so tall. But the adjustments have been made, and I’m ready as I’ll ever be.”
Nabil Anane – #5-Ranked Bantamweight Muay Thai Contender: “I had a disappointing fight against Superlek last time, but I feel like I learned a lot from that fight and I’ve grown a lot. I’m a better fighter now. I just keep improving myself all this time with ONE Championship. I know that Nico Carrillo has a lot of power and [he’s] very durable as well. But I did my training and how I will deal with his power, you will just have to wait and see this Friday.”
