Phil Hawes out, Brendan Allen steps in to face Sam Alvey

Phil Hawes will have to wait longer to try and get back to his winning ways, as he has been forced to withdraw from his bout with Sam Alvey due to injury just five days from the bout’s scheduled date. In his place steps Brendan Allen who, like Hawes, is coming off of an upset loss at the hands of “Action Man” Chris Curtis in his last contest.

Prior to his loss to Curtis, Allen was riding back-to-back victories over Karl Roberson and Punahele Soriano. The 26-year-old has also secured impressive stoppage victories over Kevin Holland and Tom Breese in his UFC run.

A veteran of The Ultimate Fighter season 16 and competitor in the UFC since 2014, Alvey looks to snap a seven-fight winless streak (six losses and one draw) on Saturday, with his last victory coming over Gian Villante back in June of 2018.

UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Strickland is scheduled to take place on February 5, 2022 at the UFC Apex.
