Pitbull Brothers Back “Hungry, Ferocious” Rocha For KC Title

Pitbull Brothers Patricky and Patricio Freire are backing their protege Luiz Rocha to bring another world title belt to their gym this weekend.

Rocha challenges Karate Combat World Lightweight Champion Edgars ‘The Bearslayer’ Skrivers in the headline bout of this Saturday night’s Karate Combat event in a rematch three years in the making.

“Luiz Victor is not only a great athlete but also a great fighter. He’s got the technique and the heart to win championships and I’m certain he can do it. His skills are at the highest level. He’s really a top-caliber fighter,” says Patrício, the reigning Bellator featherweight champion.

Rocha and Skrivers met in 2019, during the first season of Karate Combat. The Latvian left the Brazilian on the canvas and walked away with a TKO win. Skrivers went on to become champion, while Rocha steadily blasted his way back into title contention.

“I’ve been waiting for this fight ever since our first encounter. I think this one is going to be a classic, I’m really ready to beat him now. And after I win this one, we can go to a trilogy match – and I’ll win that one as well.” says Rocha.

“Back then, I wasn’t ready to be champion. He deserved it, so good for him. But I’ve evolved a lot since then, mentally and physically, I’m a very different fighter. I’m here for the belt, but revenge adds a little extra spice for sure.”

Patricky, the Bellator lightweight champion, said, “Luiz has worked very hard since he first challenged for that title. He was already a high level fighter but now he’s got a big fire in his eyes. He’s hungry, ferocious – people can really expect fireworks from him. Luiz Rocha is a dangerous opponent for anyone right now, under any rules.”

How dangerous is Rocha? Look at the Karate Combat: Season 3 win which earned him this title shot.

Rocha stopped Nikita Yanchuk with a brutal body kick in the very first round, then revealed that he had torn his left hamstring backstage while warming up for the fight and was in agony before the fight even started.

“You have one chance to use that leg,” his corner told him. Rocha made it count. Now, two days out from this Saturday’s rematch with Skrivers, he has revenge on his mind.

“He’s been talking about how nobody can figure his style out and how he’s evolved far beyond the rest of the division. We will see about that,” he says.

“I am training every day with some of the best guys in the world here at Pitbull Brothers gym – who is he training with? They’ve prepared me for anything. I hope he can say the same.

I also saw that he said he’s only been going 20-30% in some of his fights. I don’t believe that, but it doesn’t matter anyway. He can give 100% in this fight with me and he’s still going to get knocked out.

“We’ve got a score to settle and I can’t wait.”
