Professional Fighters League Women’s Lightweights And Heavyweights Face Off In Second Playoff Event On August 19

The Professional Fighters League (PFL), the fastest growing and most innovative sports league, is set for its second Playoff event this Thursday, August 19 on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+. Fighters from the women’s lightweight and men’s heavyweight divisions will look to earn a trip to the biggest night in MMA as they attempt to become a PFL World Champion and capture $1 million in prize money.
The second PFL Playoff event begins at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+ (English and Spanish) then the action continues on ESPN and ESPN Deportes (Spanish) at 9 p.m. ET.
Kayla Harrison, the 2019 PFL Women’s Lightweight Champion, begins her postseason journey against third-seeded Genah Fabian in the night’s main event. Harrison is a two-time Olympic gold medalist who is 10-0 as a professional while Fabian is a former muay Thai world champion. On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Larissa Pacheco, who is coming off the fastest knockout in division history, looks to continue her run of dominant performances against talented up-and-comer Taylor Guardado.
Top-seeded heavyweight Bruno Cappelozza will look to continue his knockout streak and to move on to the championship fight as he duels the hard-hitting Jamelle Jones in a must-see bout. Highly regarded Russian Denis Goltsov will stare across the Smartcage at Croatian slugger Ante Delija in the other heavyweight matchup, as both fighters look to earn their first PFL World Championship berth.
In the playoffs, fighters compete to advance to the 2021 PFL World Championship, the biggest night in MMA – 6 title fights in one night, the winner of each earns $1 million. 60 fighters started the season – only 20 remain in the hunt for the championship.
Calling the live action will be play-by-play announcer and former world champion, Sean O’Connell. He’ll be joined by Hall of Famer and MMA legend Randy Couture and one of the most popular MMA personalities today, Kenny Florian.
