Former UFC heavyweight title challenger, Alistair Overeem has reportedly penned a multi-fight deal to return to kickboxing — linking up with outfit, GLORY Kickboxing, making his return to the sport for the first time since December 2010.
Overeem, 41, parted ways with the UFC in a high-profile release alongside former-opponent, and former undisputed heavyweight champion, Junior dos Santos earlier this year, following a 10-year stint under the Dana White-led promotional banner.
Most recently competing in February of this year at UFC Vegas 18, Overeem battled against surging Russian kickboxing talent, Alexander Volkov in a main event tilt — suffering his 15th. career knockout loss in professional mixed martial arts. Prior to the defeat, Overeem had noted his intentions to make one final run to the UFC heavyweight championship, having unsuccessfully pried the title from the hands of then-holder, Stipe Miocic at UFC 203 in September 2016.
Per a report from ESPN MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, Overeem’s management has confirmed that their client has penned a multi-fight deal to link up with GLORY Kickboxing — with an official date for his organizational debut yet to be announced, however, he’s expected to feature before the close of this year.

The deal with GLORY Kickboxing will mark Overeem’s first foray back into the sport since December of 2010 where he scored the K-1 World Grand Prix with a final victory over compatriot, Peter Aerts with a first round knockout win in Tokyo, Japan. The victory came as the veteran’s final kickboxing appearance. He currently holds a professional kickboxing record of 10-4 from 14 walks.
Overeem has scored wins over the likes of two-time foe, now-fellow GLORY Kickboxing talent, Badr Hari, as well as the likes of Ewerton Teixeira, Ben Edwards, 107-7 kickboxer, Tyrone Spong, as well as former UFC light heavyweight striker and former GLORY Kickboxing light heavyweight champion, Gokhan Saki.
