Report – James Gallagher vs. Brett Johns added to Bellator Dublin card on September 23.

A bantamweight matchup between the #7 ranked contender James Gallagher, and Brett Johns has been set for Bellator Dublin on September 23. from The 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Gallagher, who featured at a recent instalment of Bellator Dublin back in November of last year, dropped a third round guillotine choke loss against recent big winner, Patchy Mix in a co-headlining slot in the capital.

Johns, an alum of the UFC, improved his professional record to 18-3 last time out, also featuring in Dublin his most recent outing at Bellator 275 – landing a unanimous judging victory over Khurshed Khakorov. Ariel Helwani was first to report Gallagher’s return against Johns.

“James Gallagher will return to action on the Sept. 23 Bellator Dublin card against Brett Johns, sources say,” Helwani tweeted.” 

11-2 as a professional, Gallagher’s sole other professional loss came in the form of a first round knockout defeat to Ricky Bandejas at Bellator 204 in Bellator.

In four victories prior to his November submission defeat to Mix, Gallagher bested the quartet of Steven Graham, Jeremiah Labiano, Roman Salazar, in his most recent professional victory, headlined a Milan card against Cal Ellenor – securing a first round rear-naked choke win. Gallagher currently plys his trade under the tutelage of James Krause at Glory MMA & Fitness. 

A former Cage Warriors and Titan FC bantamweight champion, Johns, a native of Swansea, Wales – managed to embark on a seven-fight run with the UFC, scoring an impressive 5-2 promotional run.

During his time with the organization, Johns bested Kwan Ho Kwak, Albert Morales, Joe Soto, Tony Gravely, and Montel Jackson.

Making his debut under the Bellator MMA banner back in May of last year, Johns landed under the banner of the Scott Coker-led organization with a unanimous decision defeat against Danny Sabatello.

Bellator Dublin takes place on September 23. from The 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland – with a lightweight matchup between former UFC and WEC division champion, Benson Henderson, and one-time Bellator lightweight title challenger, Peter Queally set for the card.
