Report – Pedro Carvalho vs. Mads Burnell booked for Bellator Dublin on September 23.

An intriguing featherweight showdown between the #6 ranked division contender, Pedro Carvalho, and the #3 rated challenger, Mads Burnell has been added to Bellator 285 on September 23. from The 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.
Carvalho, who most recently featured at Bellatoe 280 earlier this month, suffered a close, split decision defeat against Piotr Niedzielski – dropping his third loss in his four most recent outings under the promotion’s banner.
Headlining Bellator 276 back in March, Burnell, a former Cage Warriors featherweight champion suffered his first loss under the promotion’s scrutiny – in the form of a potential title-eliminator unanimous decision defeat opposite Hungarian standout, Adam Borics. A one-time featherweight title challenger, Carvalho, a native of Portugal and a trainee of SBG Ireland, suffered a first round knockout loss to current champion and former two-weight best, Patricio Pitbull back in November 2020.
12-6 as a professional, the 26-year-old Carvalho made his first Dublin outing under the Bellator banner back in November against the experienced, Daniel Weichel, surviving a couple of early rounds knockdowns to land a unanimous decision victory. The Cage Legacy alum also holds wins over the likes of Daniel Crawford, Luca Vitali, Derek Campos, and Sam Sicilia.
16-4 as a professional, Burnell, a native of Denmark – has been widely touted to succeed under the Scott Coker-led Bellator banner, enjoying a run of three straight victories to kick off his tenure with the organization.
A three-fight feature of the UFC, Burnell made his Bellator debut in October 2020, besting Darko Banovic with strikes before submitting fellow contender, Saul Rogers, and then defeating multiple-time title challenger, Emmanuel Sanchez with a close unanimous decision win last Julu.
Bellator 285 takes place on September 23. from The 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland – with a headlining clash between lightweight features, Benson Henderson and Peter Queally slated to take main event status. A light heavyweight co-headliner between Yoel Romero, and Melvin Manhoef has also been added to the card.
