Report – UFC middleweight Darren Till arrested in Stockholm in July on drink driving charge

Multiple reports have emerged this week, detailing how Former UFC welterweight title challenger and current middleweight contender, Darren Till was arrested back in July in Stockholm, Sweden on DUI (driving under the influence) charges.

Till, a native of Liverpool, England, was scheduled to take co-headlining honors at UFC London the same month against former Cage Warriors champion, Jack Hermansson, however, an undisclosed injury ruled him from The O2 Arena event.

As per an initial report from Swedish newspaper, Expressen – who cited a police report from officials in Stockholm, Sweden, Till was arrested on July 31. last near Vasagatan while driving at high speeds.

Till, who was travelling with a female passenger at the time of the incident, initially denied driving the vehicle in question at the time of his arrest, however, the female passenger is alleged to have told responding police that Till was, in fact, driving the vehicle. 

Retracting his statement, Till eventually admitted that he had been manoeuvring the vehicle, with police detailing how the 29-year-old appeared to be “noticeably intoxicated”, before eventually testing three times above the legal blood/alcohol limit in a breath test administered. Till would then accept a penalty order from police, however, details of the penalty order in question are currently undisclosed. 

18-4-1 as a professional, Till, a staple of Team Kaobon in his native Liverpool and a recent trainee at Swedish facility, AllStars MMA alongside surging welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev, is currently riding a two-fight losing run at the middleweight limit.

Headlining UFC Vegas 36 back in September of last year, Till suffered a third round rear-naked choke loss to Derek Brunson, which followed a prior unanimous decision loss against former undisputed middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker.

Back in September 2018, then-sporting an undefeated 17-0-1 professional record, Till headlined UFC 228 against undisputed welterweight title challenger, Tyron Woodley, suffering a second round D’Arce choke loss in Dallas, Texas.
