Rousimar Palhares guarantees to have learned from mistakes, promises submission in debut at Taura MMA
Rousimar Palhares had up and downs in the last few years. His relentless submissions shared space in the headlines with a bunch of controversies – notably those related to the delay to let go his kneebars and heel hooks. After turning 40, however, the Brazilian says he is much more mature and confident now. The middleweight stated that his opponent in Taura 10, Sean Loeffler, is already ‘aware’ that he will lose the fight on October 23 in Rio de Janeiro.
“I’m going to submit him. And he knows it, his team knows it, everyone knows it. I don’t want to discredit him, but he already knows I’m going to get it. Undoubtedly it’s going to be a great fight, because he will try to knock me out, and I will end up submitting him. It’s very simple. I apologize for being so sincere, but the win will be mine. I have a lot of faith, I believe in it. I’m more mature, more aware, I had more opportunity to learn in life as a whole. I want to thank him for accepting the fight, but the victory is mine, that’s right. There is nowhere to run. On October 23, you will see what I am talking about”, he said.
Despite so much confidence, the former UFC, WSOF and Fight Nights Global fighter will face a tough fighter at Upper Arena: Sean Loeffler has not lost a fight since 2010. Since then, he fought 15 times (as a middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight) and won them all.
Taura 10 card will be headlined by Felipe Gheno vs Bruno ‘Korea’ Mesquita for the flyweight belt. In the co-main event, bantamweight champion Douglas ‘He Man’ (12-1) puts his title on the line versus BJJ ace Ary Farias (9-2). Also, Yasmin Castanho (4-0) will defend her strawweight crown against Bruna Vargas (4-3). Finally, the featherweight throne will be at stake for champ Isaac Moura (10-4) and Gian Sarturi (8-2). The card also has Sergio Moraes versus BFL champion Jared Revel.
