Stefan Struve returns to the cage to face Matt Mitrone at UFC 175
Stefan Struve (25-6 MMA) (9-4 UFC) the 26 year old Dutch man makes a comeback to UFC for the first time since 2013. The heavy weight stands at 7 foot tall and was on 4 fight win streak before suffering a devastating loss. He had 2 knock out wins over Stipe Mioic at UFC on Fuel TV 5 and Dave Herman at UFC on Fuel TV 1. He also has had two submission wins over Pat Berry at UFC Live 6 and Lavar Johnson at UFC 146.
Struve the met Mark Hunt at UFC on fuel TV 8. He lost after a two-punch combo by Mark Hunt in the third round., Stefan Struve hoped referee Herb Dean would simply help him pull a tooth out of his cheek and let the fight continue, however Struve thought it was much more serious. The vicious punches that put down Struve ultimately set up a TKO loss.
Shortly after his loss he was diagnosed by doctors with a leaking aortic valve and an enlarged heart, sidelining him from the cage and putting his career in jeopardy. The Dutch mixed martial artist has received clearance to return to the cage and will be meeting the 35 year old Matt Mitrone (7-3) a 6’3 260 lbs known for his knock out power will be looking to knock out Struve, if he can over come his reach advantage.
A middleweight title fight between Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida will headline the UFC 175 pay-per-view, which will take place at Mandalay Bay Events Center.
UFC 175 will take place on 4th of July weekend at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on July 5, 2014. The event will be headlined by a championship double-header, with UFC middleweight Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida in the main event and UFC women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey vs. Alexis Davis serving as the co-feature.
