The Most Memorable UFC Fights for 2021 by Now

With the year almost over, the biggest part of the fight is behind us, but there are still a couple we are waiting for. We witnessed many Ultimate Fighting Championship events in 2021, but some fights will just stick in our minds. Some were a good surprise, and others brought some disappointments. Here are a couple of the most memorable UFC fights by now:

1. Mike Davis vs. Mason Jones

The fight happened during UFC Fight Island 8, and it was packed with action! An unprecedented number of strikes were given during the three rounds – 255 in total! The judges were the ones to make the final decision, and Mike Davis took the win.

2. Beneil Dariush vs. Tony Ferguson

UFC 262 brought us one of the upsetting events in 2021  — the fight between Beneil Dariush and Tony Ferguson. Dariush was the winner for a second time against Ferguson even though Tony was expected to be the one to take the victory home. But he just had no answers from the bottom position, and on top of that, he hardly managed to strike his opponent for the 3 rounds.

His fans were very disappointed by his performance in the UFC 262 pay-per-view event. However, we know that you don’t want to miss any of his fights and see if he will do better in the next ones and manage to gain positions in the rankings. If those games are not played on any of the TV channels you have, but you own a FireStick, you can watch UFC live stream with no problem. Streaming is the perfect way to watch all the games you want and your TV. You can do that with several free apps and maybe even organize a UFC event night at home with friends to share the excitement.

3. Alexander Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega

As expected, that fight from UFC 266 was a win for the featherweight champion Volkanovski. His performance was impressive, and Ortega just didn’t stand a chance. In the middle of the game, the current champion had a couple of challenges, but he still took the win with a 5 round decision.

4. Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier

This fight was something every fan was waiting for during UFC 257. And the second meeting between those two fighters was one of the most shocking fights we watched in 2021. That was the first fight for McGregor in a while and the first behind closed doors for his whole career. McGregor was leading during the first round, but after that, he was in for a surprise. Poirier attacked his opponent’s legs with several kicks, and Conor’s mobility was highly affected after that. This led to him being knocked out in the second for the first time in his professional MMA career.

5. Shane Burgos vs. Edson Barboza

This was an exciting fight in the schedule of UFC 262. The first two rounds kept us on the edge of our seats because both fighters performed equally well. In the next round, Barboza managed to knock out Burgos with a memorable strike.

6. Max Holloway vs. Calvin Kattar

Holloway and Kattar are considered to be two of the best fighters in the featherweight division. The fight during UFC Fight Island 7 will be remembered. It was an exciting fight, and we saw how determined was Holloway to win after 2 losses to Kattar. Max Holloway played amazingly and managed to take the win and shouted, “I’m the best boxer in the UFC, baby!”.

Fights we are still looking forward to in 2021

With less than a month left from 2021, there are still some fights we are waiting to see. Those will probably play a significant role in any final changes in the rankings for this year. Those are the matches we are impatiently waiting for:

  • Rafael Fiziev vs. Brad Riddell, UFC Fight Night on December 4;
  • Font vs. Aldo, UFC Fight Night on December 5;
  • Oliveira vs. Poirier, UFC 269 on December 12;
  •  Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Peña, UFC 269 on December 18;
  • Lewis vs. Daukaus, UFC Fight Night on December 18.

Final Thoughts

2021 was an exciting year for the UFC, and there were so many fights that we enjoyed. Surely 2022 will surpass that and will amaze us and surprise us. Put the dates into your calendar, and don’t miss a fight.
