The UFC have confirmed this Monday afternoon via press release, a host of matchups for their August 20. pay-per-view event, UFC 278 – with an undisputed welterweight title fight between champion, Kamaru Usman, and the #2 ranked, Leon Edwards set to headline a Vivint Arena event in Salt Lake City, Utah.

As per the promotion, Auchi native, Usman will make his first Octagon walk of this year in an undisputed welterweight championship rematch against Birmingham native, Edwards in the ‘Beehive State’.

Initially meeting back in December 2015 as part of a ‘Fight Night’ billed event in Orlando, Florida – Usman handed Team Renagade BJJ & MMA staple, Edwards a unanimous decision loss.

Other high-profile fights confirmed for the card include a mouth-watering bantamweight clash between former featherweight kingpin, Jose Aldo, and Georgian wrestling product, Merab Dvalishvili.

A middleweight matchup between one-time title challenger, Belo Horizonte native, Paulo Costa and the returning former undisputed UFC and Strikeforce middleweight kingpin, Luke Rockhold has also been confirmed by the organization following a prior report.
