Former two-weight UFC champion, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor has dropped to slots in the official lightweight UFC rankings off the back of his UFC 264 doctor’s stoppage loss to Dustin Poirier on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Entering the bout as the #5 ranked lightweight contender in the UFC’s official rankings, McGregor suffered a first round TKO loss against Poirier as a result of a doctor’s stoppage at the end of the opening frame — after he suffered fractures to his left tibia and fibula.

The loss for McGregor came as his second consecutively following a second round knockout defeat to Lafayette favourite, Poirier on ‘Fight Island’ in January of this year.

Suffering his third overall defeat at lightweight from four outings at 155lbs under the promotion’s banner, McGregor dropped to #7 in the division per outlet, TSN — slipping from his top-five perch. In his place at #5 steps former interim champion, Tony Ferguson who has lost three straight in the division, while McGregor replaces former undisputed lightweight best, Rafael dos Anjos at #7 — while the Brazilian moves to #6. McGregor’s sole victory at lightweight came back in November of 2016 where he defeated then-champion, Eddie Alvarez.

With his doctor’s stoppage win over McGregor, former interim gold holder, Poirier retained his rank at the top of the division beneath undisputed champion, Charles Oliveira, and above the #2 ranked Justin Gaethje. The American Top Team native is poised to meet Oliveira potentially in a December undisputed title tilt.

Off the back of UFC 264 — middleweight division mainstay, Brad Tavares moved from the #15 rank in the division up to the #13 slot via his unanimous decision win over grappler, Omari Akhmedov — who subsequently took Tavares’ spot just within the top-15.

135lbs contender, Irene Aldana retained her #4 rank in the division following her impressive knockout win over Yana Kunitskaya — with the one-time featherweight title challenger falling from her #5 rank to #6 in the bantamweight pile. Upcoming title challenger, Julianna Pena subsequently landed at #5 in place of Kunitskaya.

Suffering a unanimous decision loss to fellow one-time flyweight title chaser, Jennifer Maia, Jessica Eye slipped to the #8 rank in the division — while former Invicta FC gold holder, Maia maintained her #4 rank in the division.Â
