Unbeaten Boxing Legend Joe Calzaghe To Attend ‘Royal Rumble’ As Special Guest

One of the biggest names to ever step inside the boxing ring will grace the highly-anticipated Charity Boxing Dinner dubbed “Royal Rumble” in the Kingdom of Bahrain on February 4.
Boxing legend Joseph Calzaghe will be one of the many luminaries attending the gala that will pit the Bahrain Royal Guard against the United Kingdom’s Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in a series of matches.
“I can’t wait to be in Bahrain for the ‘Royal Rumble.’ I can’t wait to be there. I will see you all soon,” he said.
“The Pride of Wales” competed from 1993 to 2008 and held world championships in two weight classes, including the unified and lineal super middleweight titles and The Ring light heavyweight belt.
Moreover, Calzaghe is the longest-reigning super middleweight champion in history, having held the WBO title for over ten years and defending the title against 20 opponents before moving up to light heavyweight.
Between 2006 and 2008, Calzaghe was ranked by The Ring Magazine as one of the world’s Top Ten active boxers, reaching a peak ranking of third in January 2009.
He retired in February 2009 with an undefeated record of 46-0 with 32 knockouts and as a reigning world champion.
As of 2021, BoxRec.com ranks Calzaghe as the 13th greatest pugilist of all time, as well as the greatest European boxer to ever lace up a pair of gloves.
Organized by KHK Boxing and sanctioned by the Bahrain Boxing Federation, “Royal Rumble” is set to take place at the Bahrain Rugby Football Club in Janabiya, which will also be attended by Calzaghe’s fellow former world titleholder Darren Barker.
