Charges have officially been filed by Italian DJ and musician, Francesco Facchinetti and his attorney against former undisputed UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor following an alleged assault last weekend in Rome, Italy.
Facchinetti, 41, alleged last weekend that he was involved in a physical altercation with the UFC star at the St. Regis hotel in Rome, where he alleges McGregor punched him in the nose and mouth, resulting in a laceration to his lip, a broken nose, and a concussion.
The Milan-born disc jockey alleged that he and his partner, Wilma Faissol had been partying with McGregor and his fiancée, Dee Devlin at the St. Regis hotel in Rome, before McGregor invited him to another party later that night.
Facchinetti claims when he attempted to leave later that night, McGregor assaulted him in an unprovoked attack, punching him in the mouth and nose.
Recounting the alleged incident herself, Faissol claimed that she watched on as McGregor, who was standing close to her husband, punched him, forcing him to fall, before attempting to follow up the alleged assault with more punches, as members of his entourage corralled him and held him against a wall.
A spokesperson from the St. Regis hotel released a statement detailing how they would fully support police and law enforcement if they wished to open an investigation regarding the alleged incident, and have already supplied authorities with security camera footage from the night of the alleged assault.
Per a report from CNN, a spokesperson from the Carabinieri police department in Mariano Comasco, who confirmed that Facchinetti and his attorney had pressed charges against the 33-year-old Crumlin-born striker.
Facchinetti described McGregor as “dangerous” in a statement released to the news outlet, claiming that “he needs to be stopped“.
At the time of publication, McGregor nor his publicist have yet to address the allegations made against him nor the charges pressed by Facchinetti.
McGregor is currently recovering from a fractured tibia in his left leg, undergoing a surgical procedure to address the injury which he suffered in the opening round of his UFC 264 main event against Dustin Poirier.
