Since his TKO loss to Robbie Lawler at UFC 266 in September 2021—his first fight in more than six years—Nick Diaz (26-10 MMA, 7-7 UFC) has not participated in competition. Since defeating B.J. Penn in a Fight of the Night match in October 2011, the fan favorite has not triumphed.

Vicente Luque (22-10-1 MMA, 15-6 UFC) has dropped three of his last four fights after winning four straight, including one submission of former champion Tyron Woodley.

At UFC Vegas 94, the broadcast team announced that Nick Diaz will not be able to face Vicente Luque at UFC Abu Dhabi due to “travel issues.”

This event will take place on August 3, and it features the return of a fan-favorite. The card will be headlined by a number-one contender fight between bantamweights Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov.

Stay tuned to FightBook MMA as we will report if the Diaz vs Luque will be re-booked.
