Ylies Djiroun wants to become the face of French MMA for BRAVE CF
Last month, it was announced that Ylies Djiroun would be stepping in on short notice to save the main event of BRAVE CF 74. He’ll be doing so against Lucas Martins, a former BRAVE lightweight champion, and he’ll be entering the cage with nothing to lose.
Still, while some see this as a no-lose scenario, Djiroun considers it an opportunity to cement his status as one of the best fighters in the promotion. He’s currently holding a 2-1 record in BRAVE and after a big decision win over Olzhas Eskaraev back in June, he’s riding a nice wave of momentum, and a victory under this kind of spotlight would do wonders for his career trajectory.
Djiroun himself has admitted that injuries almost led to his retirement last year. Instead, though, he went back to the drawing board, and he opted to continue chasing his dream by any means necessary.
While it’s an inspirational story, Ylies isn’t unwilling to praise his own work. In fact, in a recent interview, he made it crystal clear that he’s hoping to create a real legacy for himself in the months and years ahead.
“I hadn’t fought in two years before my last fight because of my injuries. I saw my former opponents, my training partners, all those guys getting big fights, becoming famous in France, and I was lagging behind. I couldn’t even watch MMA during this period. But now I’m back. This is unbelievable. I’ve waited two years for this moment. Now I’m in the main event of BRAVE CF in France. I’m the face of BRAVE CF in France.”
“It’s crazy that BRAVE CF goes around the world, in Africa, Europe, Asia, America. I fought in Bahrain, Belarus, now in France, and I want to be that guy for BRAVE CF here.”
BRAVE CF 74 will emanate from the H Arena in Nantes, France on September 7.
