David Stevens Defeats Petr Khamukov in Tactical War at LA Friday Night Fights 2

LONG BEACH, CA — David “Dynamite” Stevens (15-2, 10 KOs) claimed a hard-earned unanimous decision over undefeated Russian Olympian Petr “The Surgeon” Khamukov (13-1, 6 KOs) in the super middleweight main event of LA Friday Night Fights 2 at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

Presented by Paco Presents, Golden Boy Promotions, and Robert Garcia’s House of Champions, the DAZN-televised event offered a high-caliber night of action, with Stevens narrowly edging Khamukov in a strategic contest between two contrasting styles. The judges scored the fight 97-93 on all three cards.

“I have to rewatch the tape. I know I made some mistakes and got a little tired in there, but I feel good,” said Stevens. “The fight is won in the gym. I’ve been working with my assistant trainer, Travia Pierce. I didn’t do it all, but most of it.”

Co-Main Event: Leonardo Ruiz Returns in Dominant Fashion

Super welterweight Leonardo “Leo” Ruiz (16-1, 8 KOs) bounced back from his first professional loss with a dominant eight-round unanimous decision over Jarrod Tennant (9-5, 4 KOs). Ruiz controlled the tempo from start to finish, earning scorecards of 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73.

“He’s a solid opponent. We went to a decision, and it felt good to come back,” said Ruiz. “I don’t know what judge gave him a round. Maybe the first because I took my time. I’m my hardest critic.”

Juan Sanchez Makes Statement with KO Over Yeis Solano

Super lightweight sensation Juan “El Negro” Sanchez (9-0, 8 KOs) overwhelmed Colombian veteran Yeis “El Tigre” Solano (15-6, 10 KOs) with four knockdowns en route to a third-round knockout victory. Sanchez delivered relentless pressure, culminating in a TKO at 2:50 of Round 3.

“Maybe it was destiny because every time since my last fight, I kept mistakenly saying I’m 9-0 with 8 knockouts. Maybe I predicted it,” Sanchez joked.

Fight of the Night: Mendez and Rubalcava Go to War

In a slugfest for the ages, Los Angeles’ Dorian Mendez (6-0, 2 KOs) remained unbeaten in a back-and-forth battle with Leonardo Rubalcava (9-1-1, 3 KOs). Both men traded non-stop, but Mendez’s composure in key moments gave him the edge by split decision (59-55, 59-55, 55-59).

Alexis Alvarado Drops and Dominates Jose Silva Gonzalez

Super bantamweight Alexis Alvarado (8-1, 5 KOs) earned a clean sweep decision win over the gritty Jose Silva Gonzalez (5-1-1, 4 KOs), scoring a knockdown in Round 3 and outlanding him in every round. Judges returned cards of 40-35, 40-35, and 39-36.

Emiliano Alvarado Survives Scare to Outpoint Alejandro Mejia

In a battle between teenage prospects, Emiliano Alvarado (8-0, 5 KOs) defeated Alejandro Mejia (2-2) despite a spirited third-round rally by Mejia. A controversial late penalty on Mejia helped Alvarado secure the win on the cards: 39-36, 39-36, and 38-37.

Daniel Cruz Stays Undefeated with Decision Over Sachin Rohila

Kicking off the broadcast, San Bernardino’s Daniel Cruz (10-0, 3 KOs) kept his perfect record intact with a gritty six-round decision over India’s Sachin Rohila (8-4, 2 KOs). In a fan-friendly clash, Cruz’s superior volume won him the bout (60-54, 59-55, 59-55).

Final Word:
LA Friday Night Fights 2 once again delivered a compelling mix of tactical wars, highlight-reel knockouts, and rising stars proving their mettle. With performances like Stevens’, Sanchez’s knockout power, and Mendez’s warrior spirit, Southern California remains a hotbed for boxing excellence.
