Derrick Lewis vs. Aleksei Oleinik headlines UFC event on August 8th.

A heavyweight pairing between one-time title challenger, Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis, and submission-specialist, Aleksei ‘The Boa Constrictor’ Oleinik is on deck for a UFC main event on August 8th. – with a location and venue yet to be disclosed by the promotion.

Making his second Octagon appearance of the year, Cypress native, Lewis last featured at UFC 247 in February, taking a close, but unanimous decision win over Ilir Latifi in the latter’s return to the division. Russian veteran, Oleinik made his most recent Octagon walk at UFC 249 in May, taking a unanimous decision of his own – opposite the returning, former division best, Fabrício Werdum. News of the pairing was initially reported by ESPN reporter, Ariel Helwani.

Attempting to earn his third consecutive triumph, and continue his route to a second title tilt under the promotion’s banner, the always entertaining Lewis makes his twentieth Octagon appearance. Prior to his close win over Latifi, Lewis earned an even closer judging triumph, over former WSOF heavyweight champion, Blagoy Ivanov.

Also riding a two-fight winning run, the proprietor of an incredible fourteen separate Ezekiel choke submission wins, 42-year-old contender, Oleinik will attempt to make a late siege toward Octagon gold. As well as his win over Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu standout, Werdum – Oleinik had previously dispatched Maurice Green via armbar, rebounding from a twelve-second knockout loss to Walt Harris. His August headliner with Lewis with mark his remarkable seventy-fifth professional match.
